Bombay,-Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra
has announced she is expecting her first child with
businessman husband Raj Kundra.
She married Kundra in 2009 and suffered a
miscarriage earlier this year. Currently actresses Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitley are
also pregnant with their first child.
Rao Award for Hema Malini
Hyderabad,-Hema Malini has been chosen for the prestigious Akkineni
Nageswara Rao Award for the year 2011.
The ANR award was instituted in the year 2005 by the
Akkineni International Foundation as an 'Award for Excellence'
to those who dedicated their life "towards service to our
medium" (the film industry).
Akkineni Nageswara Rao, ANR as he is popularly known, is
a living legend of the Telugu film industry.
91 patients suffocated to death in
hospital fire
Kolkata,-At least 91 patients suffocated to
death when a massive fire broke out in a centrally-
airconditioned seven-storey private hospital in the metropolis
on 9 december here.
Police and hospital sources said 91 people had died in
the fire at the private 190-beded AMRI Hospital at Dhakuria in
the southern fringes.
The fire in the annexe building of the hospital was
detected at around 3:30 AM by local people who rushed to the
gates, but were driven away by the security guards, following
which the fire spread swiftly, West Bengal Urban Development
Minister Firhad Hakim said.
As smoke billowed out, firemen using ladders with
platforms smashed window panes in the facade of the building
to rescue patients trapped inside the ICU, ICCU, Intensive
Therapy Unit and Critical Care units.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, visited the hospital,
ordered cancellation of its licence. She urged angry relatives
of the victims to go to the state-run SSKM Hospital to
identify the bodies.

SHO arrested for taking bribe
Jaipur,-A police inspector was today arrested
for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 here,
anti-corruption bureau sources said.
Pradeep Goyal, SHO Kotputali police station here had
allegedly taken Rs 18,000 as bribe from a person, Bhuvnesh
Tiwari, in October for registering an FIR against some local
people who had damaged the boundary wall of his agricultural
land.
When the villagers again damaged the wall recently, the
SHO demanded Rs 50,000 for registering another FIR, they said.
After verification of the complaint lodged by Tiwari, a
trap was laid and the SHO was nabbedwhile accepting the
bribe amount, they added.
Irregularities found in govt hospital,
CMS suspended
Bulandshahr,-The Chief Medical
Superintendent of a state-run hospital here was suspended
after glaring irregularities were found during an inspection,
a top district official said here.
Babu Banarasi Das hospital CMS RK Varma was suspended
after irregularities were detected in the hospital
during a surprise check, District Magistrate Kamini Chauhan
said on 9th december.
